Built in the early 80’s using steel recovered from the demolition of a warehouse by Farm work crews, the “meeting hall” has at last received a canvas cover, a material that can later be made permanent with a rubberized coating.
Outfitted with a stage in one section, the dome has already been the setting for concerts and other types of community activities. Next week peace activist Cindy Sheehan and activist singer/songwriter David Rovics will be here, lending credence to the old saying, “build it and they will come.”
The area also has become home for an array of new playground equipment. This location will be the setting for breakfasts and lunches during the Family Retreat at the end of July.
